Meisel, Meisel Everywhere

Bumping into Mr. Meisel everywhere these days. For a recent French advert he did, he decided to put some action back into the female body. The model pictured, Jamie Bochert, was so intense she almost took out the chandelier you see swinging above. And his more personal project, below, is getting a lot of attention for bringing the webcam to engage models in a more natural setting...of course, they're still performing.

Jeeyun Ha

I went to the 3rd Ward Holiday Craft Fair on Sat and while there were some things that I was like...I could do that if I had the time! or pretty wool! or a kiln!  I know, I'm being delusional. But the best stand, by far, was Jeeyun Ha's. Woman went to Parsons, lived in Brazil... jewelry, headwear, feathering...

Unfortunately, her website doesn't picture this sweet peach-rosette forehead band with dangling pearls and peach and jade feathering....yeah. Poorly explained, but still, you know it's fantastic. I made myself walk away.

Side note: I'm watching a blind date in a coffee shop in East Vill at the moment. And this dude in a suit, who looks about 12 mostly because of the suit, is with this poetic, vintage-wearing indy girl. Future reference, young dude, wear a cardigan to all upcoming blind dates.

TeuxDeux

Between remembering to search for auditions to self-submit to, these funny things called 'bills' to pay, and all the little in-betweens... there is this amazing new free app that lets me keep a running day to day to-do-list. It saves me so many scraps of paper. I don't know if it'd help anyone else, but I thought I'd put this nifty thing in a post today...

Fräulein

Ex-model turned photographer genius, has a new book. I want it. She's a badass and she makes it all so good-looking!

Present Mosaic, hehe

Things that would make good gifts, I believe. An old Atari game system that you can find at fredflare.com, a tulop mini, loose knit sweaters for the cold season, I'm loving the long in back shirts coming back from the 80s (not sure what they're officially being called this time around), black straight leg jeans, books etc. etc. etc....

Pastoral France

This spread in Paris Vogue caught my eye because of how well it seems to represent some of the wildness that occurs when you're alone in nature. I love the photo in the swing introducing this expression...

HAPPY HANUKKAH!!

hanukah!

I thought I'd get festive since it's the first night of Hanukkah this evening! Wish I could be home with my dad's half this evening, but alas, braving it in the big city requires a night out on the town instead. Ohhhh well. Here's a collage I made inspired by this season of gift-giving and glamorous parties...if I could only wear Herve Leger to New Years.

I'm making these sweet potato latkes tomorrow night!

The Ecstatic

Mos Def has been mixing with rock and all sorts of hip hop artists for his new record. I could see myself getting in to this song, in particular...

Ride around shining

This makes me so happy. It seems so frivolous and daring to bike around in a kimono and heels. I don't know if I would if I could...I'm not always so graceful. I'd love to prendre un café avec cette femme. Bet you she's a bit craazy.

Fun Nun

Oh be damned....got such a kick out of this salacious editorial featuring such beautiful, crown-jewel status flare. The pink lips and coral nails make this shoot feel so 80s to me. But the jewels well be en mode forever.

I'm staying in tonight after spending a day in this sleety-madness filming an NYU thesis film. We're all so new at the game, using all this professional equipment and terminology... I think it made everyone especially polite and thankful for good, focused work. A 'tude free day in terrible weather making a movie... I felt lucky!

Gotta keep track of this

Trousers Corset

Same piece, two spreads:

This  “Couture Report”, photographed by Mark Pillai, struts this season's prime couture with shots ranging from Medieval Queen Mab to black and white prints that remind me of Richard Avedon. Meanwhile, Sølve Sundsbø, in Japanese Vogue, went for a swimming night-scape where the model, Cameron Russell, seems to be disappearing into the motion going on around her. Same corset, though. I don't like it because it's shape seems ill-fitting and it reminds me of a decorative swastika, but I love both shoots.
